Tribute to His Majesty, the 4th King of Bhutan on his 60th Birth Anniversary (11 November 2015)

A prophecy was made a long time ago that one day a Prince would be born in the Female Sheep Year and he would bring unprecedented peace and happiness to the Bhutanese people.

This prophesy came to pass when on 11th November 1955 a Royal Prince was born to King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk and Ashi Kezang Choden Wangchuck.

At the young age of 16 years, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck took up the responsibility of ruling the nation. Crowned as King in 1974, he pledged to “endeavor to serve our beloved country and people with fidelity and to the best of [his] ability.”

An exemplary monarch and a visionary statesman, His actions and deeds have far exceeded the pledge made that day.

The 34 golden years of the reign of His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo ushered the Bhutanese nation into an era of stability, peace and prosperity.

A selfless king, His Majesty has, above everything else in his life, put the interest and wellbeing of the country the people first. He has dedicated his life to bringing progress to the Bhutanese people, and to safeguarding the national interest and security of the nation.

On the occasion of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty, a true son to the glorious Pelden Drukpa and an inspiration and role model to all, we offer our humble gratitude, prayers and deepest respects. We join the nation in pledging our unwavering dedication and loyalty to the Tsa-Wa-Sum.

Long live His Majesty, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo!
